Pam Sammons, Kati Toth and Kathy Sylva have published a second report funded by the Sutton Trust.

The study follows up the EPPSE sample to age 18 and investigates the role of background in shaping the likelihood that young people from different groups continue on an academic route to take AS and A-level qualifications. Entitled Background to Success: Differences in A-level entries by ethnicity, neighbourhood and gender the report highlights the influence of neighbourhood poverty as well as family disadvantage, gender and ethnicity.
