The department is delighted to welcome Professor Diane Mayer as Statutory Professor of Education.

Diane brings an extraordinary breadth of international experience in research on teachers’ work and professional learning and the implications for policy and knowledge exchange.  Her research and scholarship focuses on teacher education and early career teaching, examining issues associated with the policy and practice of teaching and teacher education and induction into the profession.

Diane will be responsible for providing top-quality research and academic research leadership in the area of teacher professional learning and will coordinate the department’s Pedagogy, Learning and Knowledge research theme, currently comprising of four individual research groups. She will hold her inaugural seminar in early 2019.

Prior to joining the department Diane was Professor of Education, Head of School and Dean of Education & Social Work at the University of Sydney.

Her appointment is in association with Harris Manchester College.
