Society for Educational Studies book prize

Dr Liam Gearon, Associate Professor in Religious Education in the Department of Education, University of Oxford, and Senior Research Fellow at Harris Manchester College, has been awarded second prize in the annual book awards of the Society for Educational Studies.

Published by Routledge, On Holy Ground: The Theory and Practice of Religious Education is an historical-philosophical analysis of the epistemological foundations of contemporary religious education.

On Holy Ground was judged prize-winning against four criteria: quality of research and scholarship, originality of analysis and argument, establishing a critical relation between theory and practice, as well as quality and accessibility of writing.

The book prize was awarded on 12th November 2015 at the British Academy.
