Application procedure

Admission procedure and requirements

Applications are made on-line through the University’s Graduate Admissions Office.  The University only allows paper applications in exceptional circumstances.   For further information about this process, apply or download a form, please see: http://www.ox.ac.uk/admissions/graduate/applying-to-oxford/application-guide

Please ensure that you read the Application Guide when completing an application as it will provide valuable information on how to submit your application.

Supporting documentation:

Along with your application, you will also be required to submit the following supporting documentation:

  • Statement of Purpose – we give some guidance on what to include here on the FAQs page.
  • Transcripts – you should include scans of undergraduate as well as postgraduate transcripts with your application.  You will be required to submit the original copies to the Course Administrator on acceptance to the course.  If you are applying having followed the Graduate Teacher Programme, you may not receive a transcript, however, you will be required to supply evidence of successful completion of your course, e.g. a certificate/a formal letter of completion/final assessment.
  • CV
  • References – see the FAQs page for some guidance on choosing your referees.

You will also need to supply evidence of qualified teacher status (normally your QTS certificate).  This is not a required piece of documentation for the application process, but will be set as a condition if you have not included it with your application.

NB: Applicants for whom English is not the first language are required to provide evidence that they meet the higher level of proficiency at the time of application. Please refer to the information on recognised English language tests and levels of proficiency.
