College Membership

Every student at Oxford, including PGCE interns, must become a member of one of the colleges of the University. The college system gives you an opportunity to meet and mix with people outside the Department and colleges offer a wide range of academic and social activities, as well as catering for most sporting interests. PGCE interns are a full member of their college and are eligible to participate in all its activities.

If you are offered an interview here you may wish to discuss your college application during this interview.

The college application procedure is simple and begins only after an intern has been offered a place on the PGCE course by this Department.  College application forms are sent out with PGCE offer letters.

You are not necessarily guaranteed your first choice of college.  If the college of your choice does not accept you an alternative college will be chosen by the PGCE Office.  Once you have been accepted by a college they will write to you informing you of the conditions of their offer.

To find out more information regarding the colleges please visit their websites using the following link: www.ox.ac.uk/colleges/

Not all colleges take PGCE interns.  A list of colleges that do take PGCE interns can be downloaded from a link on the main University website  (see Programmes of Study by College document) http://www.ox.ac.uk/admissions/postgraduate_courses/college_guide/index.html
