Information and Communications Technology (ICT)

The Department's ICT Centre has dedicated ICT rooms for teaching purposes and for use by individual PGCE interns, equipped with powerful multimedia PCs. Interns also have access to laser printers, digital cameras, scanners, video capture equipment, a CD ROM server and electronic Smartboards. Additional computers and ICT equipment are located in the Library Resources area.  The growing library of educational software consists of a large number of packages appropriate for the secondary age range.

All main teaching rooms are equipped with a full range of ICT facilities, including data projectors and SmartBoards.  ICT equipment for use both within the Department and in schools is available on loan and there is also a leasing scheme for a number of laptops.

Interns are also able to make use of the ICT facilities of their college.

All interns are required to successfully complete the QTS skills tests, designed and administered by the Training and Development Agency for Schools (TDA).

For more information regarding the QTS skills tests please visit the TDA website.
