Ms Kate Williams[back]

Biography

Kate has worked for the Oxford University Library Services since September 2003, working in several of the University Libraries. She spent a year at the Bodleian Library before working as the supervisor for Medical and Life Sciences and then as the Reader Services Librarian at the Social Science Library. She joined the Department of Education as the Librarian in December 2006.

Prior to working in libraries, Kate was a teacher, first teaching EFL at language schools in Oxfordshire, and then lecturing in English Language and Literature at Stratford Upon Avon College of Further Education.

Kate got her first degree, in English and Latin, from Warwick University, with a First, and an MSc in Information and Library Management in Birmingham, with Distinction. Her MSc dissertation had an education focus, looking at the information skills training that is provided for junior doctors in their first years of clinical practice.

Kate describes working as the Librarian for Education as a perfect combination of her interest in education and her experience of both teaching and library work.
