Role

Research Secretary/Web Administrator

As the Research Secretary, Phil is responsible for organising and promoting the Department’s weekly public seminar programme, editing and distributing the monthly Research Newsletter and organising the annual Assessment Day and Poster Conference. He also provides administrative support to the Director of Research, the Oxford Centre for Socio-cultural and Activity Theory Research (OSAT), the Teaching and Teacher Education Research Group, the Departmental Research Ethics Committee and the Conference Support Committee.


In his role as Web Administrator, Phil is responsible for the overall administration of the Department’s website including: identifying and liaising with Webpage Content Owners and Administrators in ensuring that information about the department’s activities is up to date; providing training for new Content Administrators and other users and liaising with the Website Technician in troubleshooting and solving technical problems.


Phil also provides administrative support to the Finance Office.

Prior to coming to Oxford, Phil was employed in Sydney, Australia, as a case manager managing a portfolio of claims under the New South Wales Workers Compensation Scheme for workers injured in the workplace.

He has previously worked as an accountant, primary school teacher, multicultural and anti-racism curriculum adviser, youth support worker, education officer and training administrator in the UK, Jamaica and Australia.
