Children Learning

The Children Learning Research Group searches for ways to offer children effective and enjoyable ways of learning to read and learning mathematics.

We investigate how children learn literacy beyond the first steps, mastering the complexities of English orthography and discovering more about how words are formed. Our work on mathematics investigates how children reason and use mathematics to make sense of the world around them. Hearing and deaf children, their teachers, schools and families, as well as different funding agencies and charities, have helped us with our research over many years and we aim to give them back the results they helped us find, through publications and resources, many of which are available on this site. We invite you to explore it and to keep in touch.

The Children Learning Research Group is convened by Professor Terezinha Nunes
