Webinar: What to read for climate and nature in the classroom

Export to calendar

For secondary school English teachers

Abstract

Teaching English is a powerful tool for engaging students with big issues in our contemporary world. What book choices are suitable for developing thoughtful classroom conversations about climate and nature in a context in which both are in crisis? This webinar will explore a wide range of literature – both classic and contemporary – that works in the secondary key stages to explore broadly ecological themes such as nature connection, changing climates, resource use, relationships to land, food systems, abundance and scarcity, and engagement with more-than-human life. Join Megan Murray-Pepper and Phoebe Mortimer – secondary English teachers and sustainability teaching experts – and researchers from Oxford University for an exploration of these ideas and a dynamic group discussion.
