The Project
Accountability regimes have been introduced in education systems at all levels around the world.
Much has been written about the unintended and often negative effects of such systems. In this project, we seek to investigate the features of intelligent accountability systems that would improve educational processes and outcomes, whilst avoiding the problems of current accountability systems. Two international Symposia were held where participants discussed the effects of accountability in Denmark, England, the Netherlands, Norway, Scotland and Wales as well as in other public sectors
- University of Bergen’s SLATE Centre on 14 – 16 December 2017
- Oxford University 12 – 14th December 2018
The project resulted in a Special Issue of the Journal for Educational Change: From unintelligent to intelligent accountability. Co-Editors were Solvi Lillejord (Bergen), Astrid Tolo (Bergen) and Jo-Anne Baird (Oxford)
