The honour recognises Lisa’s services to children, young people and their families across education and social care.
Lisa said: “This award, is deeply meaningful to me personally but more importantly than that, it speaks to all those involved in the work of centring trauma informed, relational practice and humanity into systems that don’t always make that easy.
“This work matters; it matters because ultimately it supports the work of making sure that all children and young people, particularly those who have been marginalised, understand that their lives are filled with possibility, that they matter and that they are of value to the world.”
A respected author, educator and advocate, Lisa has dedicated her career to improving the lives of children and young people, particularly those who have experienced adversity and trauma.
Through her work across education, social care and policy, she has championed approaches that place relationships, belonging and lived experience at the heart of support for children and families.
As Norham Fellow, Lisa contributes her expertise and insight to the Rees Centre’s work to improve outcomes for children and young people through research, collaboration and knowledge exchange.
She is also an alumna of the Department and was a recipient of a departmental scholarship.
