Rees Centre welcomes Dr Angelique Day as senior academic leader

Her research focuses on children’s social care, particularly care leavers pursuing higher education, children and young people’s participation and engagement in case planning and permanency, kinship care, foster and adoptive parent preparation and support, and Indian Child Welfare.

She also has done extensive work in translating research to inform public policy decision-making. All of this work to date has been conducted in the United States.

Angelique has published over 112 peer-reviewed journal articles and has been Principal Investigator for research studies worth $9,975,700 USD in external research funding since initially entering academia as researcher/professor.

She is also the founder of the National Research Consortium on Foster Care and Higher Education (NRC-FAHE). She brings together academic research, personal lived experience as a care leaver, and practice experience working on national policy in two of the three main branches of government (Congress and the executive branches of the U.S. Government (Administration for Children, Youth and Families and the National Institutes of Health).

Angelique also has experience working in direct practice as a child protective services worker.
