Estate agencies are more interested in knowing what school prospective employees went to than where they obtained a degree, according to researchers from Oxford, Strathclyde and Sydney universities.

Researchers working for the ESRC Centre for Skills, Knowledge and Organisational Performance found only 2 per cent of estate agents said a degree was needed to get the job.
