Abstract

In person hosted by the Race, Coloniality and Education Research Group

Reading Climate: Indigenous literatures, school English, and Sustainability is dedicated to climate and racial justice and with our partners we experiment with reading as pedagogical transformation. Funded by the Australian Research Council, this 1-year collaboration builds on symposia hosted by the team through the COVID years. In 2025, the academic research team hosted a series of online book clubs for teachers and volitional readers and is planning a new series of online book clubs open to secondary school English students. The collaboration involves Indigenous authors and partners including the Victorian Association for the Teaching of English (VATE), ArtsFront an activist digital arts platform, The Garrett Writing & Publishing podcast , and the Stella Prize. You can find digital resources and more about the team at the Literary Education Lab.
