Learning algorithms in doctoral science research
Convener: Anne Watson
Speaker: Dr Dimitrina Spencer University of Oxford
This presentation presents some empirical data and preliminary analysis of how doctoral researchers in the sciences find out about, learn, create, implement and disseminate algorithms. The data suggests that sociality and affect play an important role in this learning process. Through the learning of algorithms, doctoral pedagogy is discussed as a lived relational experience shaped and shaping local, national and global scientific collaborations and practices.
