The Department has received an Athena Swan Bronze Award following a successful renewal submission to the Equality Charter Unit of Advance HE, an internationally recognised framework that supports progress on gender equality in higher education and research.
The award, which is valid until 28 February 2031, represents external recognition of the positive and inclusive environment within which the Department operates, and of its ongoing commitment to reflection, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Heath Rose, Professor of Applied Linguistics, Director for People, and lead for the Athena Swan submission, said: “The award reflects the collective work of colleagues across the Department and our shared commitment to ongoing, evidence-informed action to support equality, diversity, and inclusion across the Department.”
