Professor Iram Siraj joins ECDA International Advisory Committee

News
Professor Iram Siraj has taken on an advisory role as a member of the Singapore Ministry of Education’s Early Childhood Development Agency’s (ECDA) International Advisory Committee on advancing the quality of early childhood care and education.

She said: “Having worked with the Singapore Government over 3 decades I have assisted in developing an inspection framework and a quality measure for centres catering for both over threes and 0-3.

“This will be an opportunity to further shape the provision, quality and leadership and to lift early development and evidence informed professional learning.”

The appointment, which runs from 1 August 2026 to 31 July 2029, brings Professor Iram’s internationally recognised expertise in early childhood research, pedagogy, and leadership to Singapore’s early years sector.

Chaired by Minister of State for Social and Family Development, the committee provides strategic guidance to ECDA on strengthening quality across childcare centres and kindergartens, while fostering collaboration with global experts and institutions.

In this capacity, Professor Iram will support efforts to enhance teaching quality, leadership, and research-informed practice, contributing to improved outcomes for young children across Singapore.
