Dr Benjamin Hart is a sociologist of education and higher education researcher whose work focuses on higher education policy, widening participation, and social mobility. His research uses mixed methods, including quantitative text analysis, corpus linguistics, and qualitative interviewing, to examine how policies and discourses shape educational inequalities. His interests span sociology, education, and philosophy.
Ben is a Postdoctoral Researcher working on the Research England funded ‘Research Professional Futures’ project. After completing his doctoral studies in the Department of Education, University of Oxford, he worked with colleagues on a Sutton Trust funded project examining the role of higher education in social mobility. Following this, he took up a Research Fellowship in Higher Education at the University of Leeds before rejoining the department.
