About me

Jonathan is a mid-career doctoral researcher. Jonathan has over a decade of experience in higher education policy, first as a student leader and then as a higher education policy consultant working on behalf of higher education institutions, governments, and other organisations in Canada, Europe, Sub-Saharan Africa, and Latin America. He began his doctoral work with the German Centre for Higher Education and Science Studies (DZHW) in 2023, before moving to Oxford in 2025. His doctoral research is focused on higher education system structure, and more specifically measuring and gauging the importance of differentiation among higher education providers. Additional research interests include higher education financing, institutional autonomy versus accountability/responsibility, and higher education and economic development in low- and middle-income countries.
