Louise Couceiro

About me

Louise’s research is primarily centred on children and young people in/and education, with specific focus on social justice and inequalities. Her research interests span children’s literature and literacies, children’s digital and technological engagements, and feminist issues. Louise aims to take a participatory approach to her research and has extensive experience of undertaking in-depth ethnographies in schools and using creative methods.

Her ESRC-funded doctoral research, which she undertook at the University of Glasgow, explored how children respond to and engage with contemporary biographies about women. Louise has been involved in various research projects with children, both in the UK and abroad. In 2022 she worked with non-profit organisations in Canada to better understand how organisations are encouraging girls to engage with STEM (science, technology, engineering and maths), and acted as a research consultant on the international, SSHRC-funded project, ‘Kids, KidTech and the Metaverse: Global Childhoods in Digital Capitalism’.

Louise holds a BA in English Language and Literature from King’s College London, an MA in Gender Studies from UCL and an MRes in Sociology and Research Methods from the University of Glasgow.
