Renyu Jiang

About me

Renyu is a research assistant currently working on the Learning in Families through Technology (LiFT) project. She recently completed her PhD in Education (Applied Linguistics) here in the department. Her doctoral research examined the effect of orthographic input (i.e., written word forms) on English vocabulary acquisition in eight-year-old Mandarin-speaking EFL children, focusing on the learning of pronunciation, spelling, and meaning.
Renyu’s broader research interests include multilingualism, vocabulary development, and psychological factors influencing second or foreign language acquisition. She previously worked as a Research Assistant in the Assessment Research Group at the British Council, contributing to projects on reading assessment, test development, and participant feedback analysis.
