Why did you decide to study the MSc Teacher Education course at Oxford University?

I chose the MSc Teacher Education at Oxford because it is one of the few programmes that allows full-time teachers to study alongside their work. The flexible design meant I could continue my job while gaining tools to tackle real challenges in my professional practice, all within a world-class academic environment.

 

What was your full-time job during your MSc Teacher Education?

During the course, I worked as Head of the Teaching Department at a language training institution, where I was responsible for leading a team and overseeing curriculum development.

 

What did you particularly enjoy about the course?

I particularly enjoyed the stimulating discussions with colleagues from diverse professional backgrounds, as well as the chance to critically reflect on my own teaching. These conversations broadened my perspective and encouraged me to think more deeply about educational practice.

 

How has studying the course helped with your professional development?

The course laid a strong foundation for my understanding of continuing professional development (CPD), sharpened my research skills, and inspired me to see myself not only as a practitioner, but also as a researcher eager to explore CPD more deeply.

 

What is the community (students & staff) like at the department?

The community at the department is incredibly supportive and inspiring. Students are open and generous in sharing ideas, and the tutors provide thoughtful, practical guidance that makes you feel truly encouraged in your learning journey.

 

What advice would you give to people who are applying to the course?

Be clear about how the course connects to your professional goals, and don’t hesitate to contact the department—they are very approachable and willing to offer advice to help you make the right decision.

 

What is your favourite memory of studying at the Department?

My favourite memories are of the lively group discussions and one-to-one meetings with my tutor, where I always came away with new insights and ideas that challenged and inspired me.
