About the Role
We are seeking a Research Facilitator to join the Department of Education at the University of Oxford. The Department has a world-class reputation for research, teacher education, and postgraduate study, and currently manages a diverse research funding portfolio valued at over £13 million. This post offers an exciting opportunity to play a key role in supporting and developing the Department’s research activity and strategic priorities.
In this role, you will provide expert advice and guidance to academic and research staff on research growth, funding diversification, and risk management, and lead on the operational aspects of grant applications. You will work closely with colleagues to review research bids, identify and share funding opportunities, and ensure alignment with the Department’s research strategy. You will also contribute to the work of the Research Strategy Group, providing insight to inform research development and decision-making, and liaise with divisional and central University teams to ensure effective collaboration and compliance with University processes.
You will hold a degree (or have equivalent experience) and possess strong communication, negotiation and mediation skills. You will have experience of reviewing or supporting research funding bids, sound financial management skills, and the ability to present complex information clearly and concisely. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, together with the ability to work independently and collaboratively with a range of stakeholders, are essential. Experience within higher education and knowledge of the UK research funding landscape, particularly within education, would be an advantage.
This post is offered full time on a fixed-term contract or secondment opportunity until January 2027 (maternity cover).
Applications should be made online and must include a CV and a supporting statement explaining how you meet the selection criteria. Only applications received before 12 midday on Friday 31 October 2025 will be considered.
