Dr Ludivine Garside joins the Rees Centre from the University of Bristol Law School, where she was an Administrative Data Research UK (ADR UK) Research Fellow. With data knowledge and skills from collaborative projects in Economics, Primary Care, and Family Justice, Ludivine is a quantitative socio-legal researcher who works with sensitive administrative datasets and their linkages. Previous work has examined care trajectories leading to, and in the aftermath of, Care Orders being made or lifted. She holds a particular interest in children and young people potentially affected by domestic abuse, a subset of which may be supported by social care. Her ADR UK Fellowship focused on producing population-level evidence about the use of family courts to protect against domestic abuse, being one of the first studies to gain approval from HM Courts and Tribunals Services to use de-identified family court data in England and Wales, and linkage to other datasets including Children and Families Court Advisory Support Service (CAFCASS). Ludivine now plans to work together with data owners and Centre colleagues to understand how stronger and more stable relationships can improve the lives of children and young people in need of support from social care.
