Bringing together meta-analysis and structural equation modelling: Testing models and hypotheses in education across studies

Meta-analyses are key resources for synthesizing relevant findings in educational research, often indicated by single intervention effects and correlations among constructs. Many theories and hypotheses, however, are represented by models which contain multiple effect sizes and complex relations (e.g., indirect or contextual effects). The emerging field of meta-analytic structural equation modeling (MASEM) brings together meta-analysis and structural equation modeling to examine these models and test these hypotheses across studies. The seminar introduces the two main approaches to MASEM, correlation-based and parameter-based MASEM, and illustrates their application to the prominent Technology Acceptance Model for primary studies of pre- and in-service teachers. The analytic R code and output files will be made available.
