STORIES 2019 Inclusivity: Mental Health, Access and Accountability

STORIES (Students’ Ongoing Research in Education Studies) is an annual two-day conference for graduate students and educational practitioners held at the Oxford University Department of Education.
Issues of inclusivity—whether in terms of institutions or individuals, policies or theory—have gained increased focus of late within the education landscape. From the publication of the Bercow Report to movements to deconolonise curricula to the recent launch of the University Mental Health Charter, the question of what inclusivity means and how it should be fostered has perhaps never been so salient.
We invite conference participants to engage with, problematise, question and complicate the issue of “inclusivity” —particularly in the areas of mental health, access and accountability— as manifested in learning, education, and educational research.
Educational practitioners and graduate students across all disciplines and at all stages of research are invited to attend. We encourage conference participants to think creatively and critically in order to foster interdisciplinary dialogue, and welcome both theoretical and empirical submissions. The conference will consist of parallel sessions of 15 minutes student presentations + 5 minutes Q&A. Posters will be presented during scheduled sessions and coffee breaks. The conference will also include several renowned keynote speakers (TBA).
All oral presenters are invited to submit a paper for publication in the conference proceedings published annually in an Open Access format. Previous years’ proceedings are available through the Oxford University Research Archive.
