The Vice-Chancellor’s new Civic Awards scheme, launched in February of this year, recognises and promotes the positive impact of Oxford students on the local, national, and international community.

The awards are given to a maximum of six Oxford University students in recognition of exceptional and inspirational individual achievement in, and personal commitment to, volunteering in the community and the wider world. Award winners receive leadership training and mentoring from successful Oxford alumni and they will have dinner with key members of the University and high-profile alumni.

Jennifer Star (MSc, Comparative and International Education), having already this year been named Young Australian of the Year for New South Wales, is among the first group of Oxford students to receive one of the awards.
