Anding Shi

Doctoral Student | St Antony's College

About me

Anding Shi is a final-year DPhil student at the Department of Education and St. Antony’s College. Her doctoral research is fully funded by the China Scholarship Council.

Anding’s research focuses on the current publication culture under neoliberal and managerial academia, and particularly how it impacts the academic development and knowledge production of early career researchers. Her thesis comprehensively examines Chinese doctoral students’ publishing journey under the ‘publish or perish’ culture. Beyond that, she hopes to continue researching the broader implications of the changing publication culture on the academic community and the science system. Anding welcomes researchers interested in the same topics to contact her, whether they are in higher education studies, science studies, or other related fields.

Prior to coming to Oxford, Anding completed her master’s degree in Comparative Education at the Faculty of Education, Beijing Normal University. She also studied as an exchange student in the Faculty of Education and Culture at Tampere University.
