Antony Zacharias

About me

Antony (he/him) is an internal medicine registrar doctor, with an interest in medical education academia and practice. He currently holds positions at University College London (UCL) Medical School as a clinical and professional practice tutor alongside his clinical post. His passion for medical education along with innovation within the field has led to him securing fellowship with the Higher Education Academy, winning the prestigious ‘Excellence in Medical Education’ Award at UCL, and being recognised through various ‘name and proclaim’ awards.

He completed his Masters’ degree in Medical Education at the Department of Education (University of Oxford) in 2023, graduating with distinction. His research interests include exploring and challenging how medical education research and practice uphold normative paradigms, and the associated impacts on medical student and practitioner’s sense of belonging. He has published several articles in the area, including exploring neocolonialism in medical education research, and the generation of new theoretical frameworks for understanding how role models exists and support minoritised medical students in the UK.
