Javiera is a doctoral student at the Department of Education, conducting research in the field of Higher and Tertiary Education. She is particularly interested in educational quality, inequalities, student/graduate trajectories, and how these interact with the emergence of technologies such as AI. Her doctoral thesis investigates Chilean TVET students’ transitions to the world of work within a labour market increasingly shaped by Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies. Her doctoral research is fully funded by Chile’s National Agency for Research and Development (ANID).
Alongside her doctoral studies, Javiera collaborates on research with the National Centre for Artificial Intelligence (CENIA) in Chile. She contributes to the design and implementation of research instruments to evaluate AI governance, AI literacy, motivation, and perceptions of AI’s role in the workplace, as well as to the qualitative and quantitative analysis of the data gathered from these instruments.
Prior to arriving at Oxford, Javiera earned both her BA in Psychology and her MA in Educational Psychology from the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile. Her professional background includes experience in higher/tertiary education institutions and at Qualitas Foundation, where she supported diverse institutions in improving their educational quality.
