Professor Diane Mayer appointed as Statutory Professor of Education
The department is delighted to announce that following an international search and selection process, the Electoral Board has appointed Professor Diane Mayer to the post of Statutory Professor of Education in association with Harris Manchester College.
Professor Mayer will be joining the department in September 2018 and brings an extraordinary breadth of international experience in research on teacher professional practice and its relations with policy and knowledge exchange.
Professor Mayer was Professor of Education, Head of School and Dean of Education & Social Work at the University of Sydney. She has previously held leadership positions at Victoria University, Deakin University, University of California at Berkeley and University of Queensland. She is a leading authority in social scientific research in the area of teacher professional practice. Her research and scholarship focuses on issues associated with the professionalism of teaching and teachers’ work and what that means for teacher education and policy.
