Teaching and Learning International Survey (TALIS) Video Study
The Project
The Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) Teaching and Learning International Survey (TALIS) asks teachers and principals about the teaching and learning conditions that research tells us improve teaching.
The TALIS video study pilots methodologies involving the capture of real teaching practices from within school classrooms. The pilot focuses on a maths teaching context and involves multiple countries and economies, including the England. This provides the opportunity to explore effective mathematics teaching practice and the relationship with student outcomes.
Commissioned by the Department of Education, and working collaboratively with the Education Development Trust (EDT) and the International Study Consortium (ISC), the Department of Education is providing academic and technical input for the design of the English component of the video study pilot, and is contributing to the resulting analysis and insights for relevant policy makers.
