Doctoral Research Fellow

Job role

Doctoral Research Fellow (open to DPhil students in their 2nd year of study)

INTERNAL APPLICATIONS ONLY

The Doctoral Research Fellow is a development role designed for students in their 2nd and 3rd year of study to gain research experience within research groups in the department.

Applications are invited for a Doctoral Research Fellow position to support the project updating the best start in speech, language and communication (SLC) gov.uk guidance. In October 2020, Public Health England published the “Best start in speech, language and communication (SLC): Guidance to support local commissioners and service leads”, alongside supporting evidence and case studies of good practice. The aim of these documents is to support commissioners, and service leads to design and implement effective systems of support and provision. Since then, there have been a number of developments relevant to the guidance and the underpinning evidence. The Department of Health and Social Care will update the guidance on early years speech, language, and communication. To enable this, our project will update the supporting evidence underpinning the guidance.

As part of the role, you will work with Professor Cristina McKean, Dr Cecilia Zuniga Montanez and colleagues at UCL to support the smooth running of the project. This role will involve screening of relevant literature, data extraction and support in the organisation and running of focus groups and interviews. Further details of the role are in the attached job description.

To apply please send a CV and a one-page statement of how your experience and skill prepares you for the role to cristina.mckean@education.ox.ac.uk with the subject ‘Application for Doctoral Research Fellow’.
