Lead the future of AI in education with our new Postgraduate Diploma

The Department of Education has launched a new online Postgraduate Diploma in Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Education, which will equip professionals across education, policy and the EdTech industry with the research-informed knowledge and practical expertise needed to lead AI in education.  

The one-year, part-time course brings together expertise from the Department of Education, alongside computer scientists, engineers and data scientists from across the University of Oxford, to empower professionals to set the global standard for rigorous, ethical, and considered practice in AI and education 

Primarily delivered online, the course is open to professionals around the world and includes an in-person residential week in Oxford, three core modules and an independent research project. 

Dr Sara Ratner is one of the Course Directors on the PGDip alongside Professor Sibel Erduran. Dr Ratner said: “As AI continues to reshape education, it is essential that professionals have the knowledge and confidence to critically evaluate its use and lead change in ways that are informed by research, pedagogy and evidence. 

“This new programme will support professionals in navigating the opportunities and challenges of AI in education, while fostering collaboration across sectors and disciplines.” 

The course is designed for educators, policymakers, system leaders and EdTech professionals, with a focus on cross-sector learning and practical outputs that can be immediately applied to participant’s own professional settings. 

Applications are now open for entry in January 2027.
