Classroom simulations: Scenario-based learning
Scenario-based learning (SBL) presents participants with brief, authentic, interactive, text- and video-based scenarios that are followed by a series of questions requiring context-based reasoning.
In an ITE context, SBL offers a wide range of authentic and complex learning experiences in a low-risk setting, where participants can consider different ways of managing commonly experienced teaching challenges. SBL represents an instructional technology that is easy to implement and can be accessed online at the convenience of the participant, with automated feedback.
The ReNEW team have developed and tested SBL interventions for preservice and experienced teachers in the UK, Kenya, and Australia.
Research Question: How can we provide high-quality mentoring and development opportunities for preservice teachers and emerging school leaders?
