Building on previous work, this project establishes the Belonging in Education Research Network to bring together research evidence, practice expertise and lived experience to build more equitable education systems, where belonging is the guiding principle.
Research shows that increasing numbers of children are missing out on education through school exclusion and low attendance, with children who experience life challenges outside of school being the most affected. Relational approaches have been identified as a promising way to address this problem.
The three functions of the network are to:
- build on the evidence-base for why belonging in education matters (Research)
- co-produce practical resources to support its effective implementation in practice (Projects), and
- advocate for change at national and local levels (Influence).
