Four months into his new role as Director of our Department, we speak with Professor Leon Feinstein in episode five of our podcast Education Explored.

Leon is a Professor of Education and Children’s Social Care and from 2021 to 2025 was the Director of the Rees Centre – a specialist research centre at our Department which focuses on children’s social care.

Leon’s previous positions have included Director of Evidence at the Children’s Commissioner’s Office, Director of Evidence at the Early Intervention Foundation and Chief Analyst in the Prime Minister’s Delivery Unit in HM Treasury.

In this latest episode, he talks about his career to date and his thoughts on how politics and research interact.

In case you missed it, last month we spoke with Professor Velda Elliott about the joys of reading, the Lit in Colour campaign and what we’re doing to support the National Year of Reading.

You can listen to the latest episode of Education Explored, or catch up with the rest of the series, on the University of Oxford podcast pages. You can also listen on Spotify and Apple podcast.
