John Furlong gave a keynote lecture at a conference held at St Patrick’s College, Dublin last week – ‘Re-imagining Initial Teacher Education – perspectives on tranformation’ (20th June – 2nd July 2011).
Other key note lectures were given by Marilyn Cochran-Smith, Fred Korthagen, Jim Deegan and Fionnuala Waldren. The title of John Furlong’s paper was ‘The Universiteis and Teacher Education: where are we now and where should we be?’ The conference was timed to coincide with major changes planned for initial teacher education in Ireland and a book arising from the conference will be published next year.
