Exclusion of Looked After Children from English secondary schools
Theme: Rees Centre
This study is exploring reasons for fixed term exclusions, outcomes by the age of 16 and the perspectives of excluded looked after young people, their foster carers, social workers and designated teachers.
National care and educational databases will be linked to track the histories of a complete cohort of children in England, from age 5 to 16yrs. Interviews with 16 excluded young people, their foster carers, social workers and designated teachers will provide insights that are expected to inform policy makers and practitioners as to best practices to address the needs of this vulnerable group.
